Sentence: I eat food.

In the above sentence I is the subject, eat is the verb and food is the object.

1st form of verb: eat, 2nd form of verb: ate, 3rd form of verb: eaten

Gerund is the ing form

 

Positive sentence

(I, He, She, It) as a subject

Subject+ was+1st form of verb + ing + object

 

I was eating food.

He was eating food.

She was eating food.

It was eating food.

 

(You, They, We) as a subject

Subject+ were +1st form of verb+ ing+ object.

 

You were eating food.

They were eating food.

We were eating food.

 

Negative sentence

Subject+ was+ not+1st form of verb+ ing + object
